President of Republic, José
Ramos Horta informed that FALINTIL-Forces Defence of
Timor Leste (F-FDLT) as institution with weapon and
uniform of the state, in first place they have to know
of human rights to respect the rights of the other ones.
"The (F-FDTL) has to be well
diciplined for not could abuse of the authority that
dispose, for instance, with weapons in their hands,
they themselves can violate the law and the human rights.
Like this, it is of capital importance to know how well
to work and to respect the human rights”, underlined
Horta while he got the speech in the opening Ceremony
of the workshop of the Human Rights organized by the
Ministry of Defense, ICRC and UNMIT for two days in
the General Barracks of F-FDTL Tasi Tolu Dili, Tuesday
(03/07).
Horta explained that, Timor Leste
since 2002, has already ratified the convention seven
in that exists great relationship with the human rights.
Therefore Timor Leste Government needs to do great effort
to impose the program of the human rights to be of the
interest of the whole society Timorense. Horta also
explained more that, the program of the human rights
has to be part of a curriculum from the kitengarden,
primary school, pre-secondary until the university.
Like this, in the next coming years, the human Rights
will be part of the life and culture in the life of
the Timorese people.
"Therefore, the servers of the
state should take the course on the human rights and
the United Nations accept my ideas well to open the
curriculum to the schools, like this, boys and girls,
already begin at the infantile age until the university
that can apprehend the human rights. So one day later,
the human rights will come to be part of the Timorese
kulture", Horta concluded.
In the same place, Athul Kahre representative
of SRSG UNMIT, in his speech said that, F-FDTL need
to know the human rights for completely to accomplish
his function as professional force where there is respect
for the human beings rights humans and of his civil
life. In his speech, where it also stressed the former
General Secretary of the United Nations Cofi Annan sayings,
and he said, we will "Continue to be happy with
the freedom while there is security. We also continued
to be happy with the security while there is freedom.
However these two things do us we feel not happy while
there is not respect for the human rights”, affirmed
Athul Kahre. Like this, he added that, UNMIT continues
of open hands to help Timor Leste Government, mainly
for together to see how it can continue to develop the
area of the human rights in Timor Leste.
They participate in this opening ceremony
in representation of the President of the Republik,
General Brigadier Taur Matan Ruak, Athul Kahre SRSG
UNMIT, several military of the nations friends, official
Member of F-FDTL, Komandante PNTL, Government members
