of Defence in the program F2020 as priority part when
I’ll undertake the new position as President ",
words of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence
of Timor Leste, dr. José Manuel Ramos Horta during
the participation in the farewell ceremony to the civil
servants of the Ministry of Defence on THU, 17/05 in
Ministry of Defence building.
As to the says of Horta, the Institution
of Defence is very important to follow up from now to
the future. The crises of security in 2006 were a big
lesson to allow us to reflect and to analyse the decision
where the defence and the security got wrong. According
to Horta, Ministry of Defence needs to find a good development
so having in considera tion the development of the plan
F2020, it allows to solve other problems in which a
lot of them needs to solve, we have the case of “peticionarios”
from which it came out the crises of last 2006.
" It is very important to the
new president to see the structuring in Defense and
security. As new President, I will give capital importance
to the re-strut ration of PNTL and of F-FDTL as priority
areas, it includes too the petitioners' case as well
as the one of Major Alfredo however still for solving.
Those will be the work of priority of the President.
The Government will ponder just for the development
of the economy, to give capacity to the people to develop
their life, without threat nor provocation in area of
security ", continues Horta. However Horta also
confirms that, those subjects also depend on the new
Government and on the Parliament to be chosen in the
next month of June of 2007. Even so, he himself had
already those opinion consultations with the President
Xanana Gusmao, the opposition leaders and also the Party
of Fretilin.
At the same time, dr. Ramos Horta
as Minister of Defence, he gave gratefulness the all
the defence employees mainly to the Permanent Secretary.
With anecdote dr. Horta said, during the time that he
undertook the minister of Minister of Defence position,
he did more as Priest's Chaplain role than the role
of Minister Defence.
At other side at the same place, Lieutenant
Colonel Filomeno da Paixão de Jesus as Permanent
Secretary, greeted the service of the dr. José
Ramos Horta from where the Ministry has benefited plenty
the development program of the Ministério Defesa
to F-FDTL. " On behalf of all the employees, we
want to present the votes of good trip and of congratulations
for the new position as President of RDTL 2007-2012
", affirmed Paixão before finish his speech.
